FIFTH-FLOOR LOFT RUNWAY — KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI
In April 2018 a fashion show booked us into one of Kansas City's more unusual venues: a five-story entertainment center on Broadway Boulevard — restaurant on the ground floor, video games and virtual golf on the second, a nightclub on the third, a kitchen on the fourth, and a catering loft on the fifth. The show was at the top.
The build: A 4ft x 30ft LED fashion show runway, carried up and assembled in the fifth-floor loft. Every unit of a modular LED runway travels flat, which is exactly what a multi-story load-in demands — no crane, no freight drama, just a stack of panels and a crew that has done this before.
The look: The client ran the runway through its range over the night — a clean single-color walk for the show itself, and a multicolor checkerboard as the room shifted into party mode. Same runway, two completely different rooms.
The footnote: The venue offered our crew free admission and gaming credits for the night. The arcade went mostly unused — our team stayed with the show to make sure it ran perfectly. That's the job.
